My thoughts on photo radar

Ya know what I’d rather see than a vote on photo radar? Evidence that photo radar is being used in places where there’s high incidents of speed related accidents. 6 overpasses on the Henday aren’t the problem. Intersections on long stretches without lights are. I’d also like to see permanent installations in areas where there is verifiable proof of higher collision rates, along with signage. THEN you will actually change behaviours.

I get the argument that photo radar only punishes those that speed, and it’s an accurate one. But I also know that someone who makes $200,000 a year doesn’t care if they get a $200 ticket for speeding on the Henday. For a person who makes $30,000 it definitely does. So it becomes a poor man’s tax on speeding and a ticket to ride for those who can afford it.
