Alberta Votes 2019 Day 8 #ableg #abpoli #abvote

Satire makes it easier to deal with this.

After announcing racist views are not welcome, but hateful views are, but hateful comments aren’t, but some racist views are, Jason Kenney just gave up trying. Supporters who are tired of being associated with “-ists” and “-phobes” have latched onto a photo-shopped tweet and ignored literally everything else.

While no candidate has been asked to step down for two whole days, Jason Kenney says supporters who identify with varying degrees of “-ists” and “-phobes” are welcome in the Party, so long as they don’t have memberships in groups of other “-ists” and “-phobes”.

For those who already suspect the “left is far worse”, the NDP does have a similar policy that asks members to confirm they do not have memberships in other provincial political parties. Goosebumps.

Also reported today was that the Freedom Conservative Party replaced two candidates last week after one had made controversial posts on social media and the other seemed to have an unhealthy obsession with attacking those who practice an Islamic religion. In an apparent quest to shield himself from Sharia Law-like compliance to general standards of civility, a hopeful candidate demonstrated zero consideration for the idea that a public representative should not be a complete and utter twat.

He also refused to step down as he verily believes his freedom of fuckwittery should be forced upon the leader, the Party, and the entire province. The Chair of FCP’s  Candidate Nominations Committee disagreed.

When reached for comment, Freedom Conservative Party leader Derek Fildebrandt said “the FCP is most certainly not ‘Sharia compliant’. I literally just ate a pork chop with a beer.”

It just doesn’t get any clearer than that.

No other political party had to make apologies for candidates, disqualify candidates, or explain for, like, the bazillionth time, that they are not trying to hurt vulnerable children to appease some non-existent group of supporters who still think “gay” is communicable.

This. Is. Alberta. Politics. Today.

Satirical and opinionated.
